Arsenal’s home ground

Emirates Stadium is home to one of England’s most successful teams, Arsenal Football Club. Opened in 2006, this stadium, which can hold over 60,000 people, is one of the few in Europe with the highest FIFA star rating.

Name of the stadium

Originally, the Emirates Stadium was to be called Ashburton Grove until Emirates became one of the club’s main sponsors. However, locals still refer to it as Ashburton Grove. The stadium is known for its modern and impressive architecture. It has an arched structure that not only serves as a visual element but also supports the roof, providing spectators with an unobstructed view of the field.

Take your place among the “Gunners”

So, if you go to Arsenal for a soccer game, you will be sitting among nearly 60,000 Gunners fans. The word “Gunners” is used unofficially and is a term of endearment for Arsenal fans, derived from their most famous nickname, “The Gunners.” “Gunners” refers to the fact that the club was originally founded as a team for workers at the Royal Arsenal munitions factory in Woolwich, London.

Legendary statues

Unquestionably one of the primary attractions of the Emirates are the statues of Arsenal’s greatest players that adorn the grounds. Renowned former players like Dutch midfielder Dennis Bergkamp and French striker Thierry Henry are on this Walk of Legends.

Beginning in the 1920s, when Herbert Chapman and Arsenal won all four leagues in five years, and continuing through the 1980s and 1990s with Tony Adams, the renowned “Gunner” who played for the team for 19 seasons, the Walk of Fame takes you through the various phases of the history of one of the most significant clubs in all of Great Britain.

In addition to these iconic statues, you can take a photo at the stadium entrance with the club cannons – iconic symbols of Arsenal that have adorned its crest since the 1930s.
